Kepler-90, also designated 2MASS J18574403+4918185, is an F-type star located about 2,790 light-years (855 pc) from Earth in the constellation of Draco. It is notable for being the only confirmed planetary system with the same number of observed planets as the Solar System. With the discovery of an eighth planet, the Kepler-90 system is the first to tie with our solar system in number of planets. In a first for astronomy, scientists trained a neural network to sift through scads of data from a planet-hunting telescope, and it found a whole new world. What have we learned?
